Accurate metering that opens new revenue streams

With a MID-certified meter, amina M / M2 tracks energy with precision – enabling compliant billing, accurate reimbursements, and new earning opportunities. It helps build customer trust while keeping up with evolving regulations.

Wired & wireless connection that ensures smooth backend integration

Beyond its LTE Cat 1 Bis modem and dual-band WiFi, amina M’s dedicated Ethernet port ensures a stable, wired connection for seamless OCPP communication.

Smart charging that protects your infrastructure

By integrating with the smart meter via a P1 reader, amina M adjusts charging in real time to prevent fuse overloads. It also prioritises local solar usage, helping your customers make the most of their energy.

AFIR ready

Built for two-way power flow, the charger can send energy back to the grid. Plug in, and the session starts automatically, with the car and charger handling authentication. No cards, apps, or hassle in the cold. Plug & Charge uses the ISO 15118-20 standard, and the hardware is prepared for it (amina M2 only).

FAQ

Any questions?

If you need further assistance, get in touch or check out the full FAQ page.

The amina M is built for homes, multi-unit residential buildings, and commercial car parks, anywhere between 1 and 200+ charging points in a single installation when a MID meter is required. It handles the complexity of shared infrastructure so building managers and charge point operators don’t have to.

Yes. MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) certification means the amina M measures energy delivery to the legal standard required for billing tenants or customers. If you’re charging per kWh, this matters legally.

The amina C & M use OCPP 1.6J (and are ready for OCPP 2.0.1), which is the industry-standard open protocol. That means it’s compatible with any OCPP-compliant charge point management system (CPMS). You’re not tied to amina’s software or any specific vendor. You can find all integrations partner here.

Standard connectivity is via 4G. Ethernet and Wifi are available as an option for locations where cabling or connectivity to 4G data back to a network is not available, impractical, or expensive.

It uses the Type 2 connector, which is the European standard. Any EV sold in Europe from roughly 2018 onwards will be compatible. Older vehicles with Type 1 connectors would need an adapter, though this is rarely an issue in practice.

No. Monta communicates with chargers over OCPP, and amina S does not have OCPP.

For a Monta setup you need amina C or amina M. Both run OCPP 1.6J and are already integrated with Monta.

amina S handles smart charging over Bluetooth and Zigbee instead, through platforms such as Home Assistant, Homey, EVA Smart and Perific.

The vehicle controls the connector lock, not the charger. On every amina model the release comes from the car side, so that is where to start.

  1. End the charging session in your car or in your car’s app.
  2. Unlock the car fully with the key or app. Some cars need a separate “unlock charging cable” action in the EV settings menu, not just a door unlock.
  3. Pull the connector straight out, firmly, without forcing it.
  4. If it still will not release, switch the charger’s circuit breaker off, wait ten seconds, switch it back on, and try again.

amina 1 uses a Type 2 socket and your own cable, so the connector can be held at either end. The same steps apply.

If the cable is still held after a power cycle, stop pulling and get in touch. Forcing it risks damaging the connector or the socket.

No. amina S does not support ISO 15118, which means no Plug & Charge, no vehicle-to-home and no vehicle-to-grid. Those features need ISO 15118-20 hardware, and no firmware update can add hardware.

The ISO 15118-20 hardware sits in amina C2 and amina M2. Both models are available to order. C2 delivery is planned for later in 2026, with M2 delivery planned for January 2027. Delivery timing can change, so contact sales for the latest information.

amina S, amina C and amina M ship with a 6 m Type 2 cable, factory fitted. If the cable is damaged, an electrician can replace it using the official replacement part.

A 9 m cable is available for B2B customers to order and offer to their own customers. amina does not sell the 9 m cable directly to consumers. Contact the business that supplied your charger to ask whether it is available.

amina 1 is different. It has a Type 2 socket and no cable included, so you can use any Type 2 cable rated for your charging current, at whatever length suits you.

amina M. It has an RJ45 Ethernet port alongside 4G and Wi-Fi, which makes it the most reliable choice wherever a cable run is possible.

The others do not:

  • amina C has 4G LTE and dual-band Wi-Fi, but no Ethernet.
  • amina S has Bluetooth and Zigbee only.
  • amina 1 has no connectivity at all.

Yes, but how depends on the model.

  • amina M has load balancing built in, including a P1 meter reader for whole-house consumption and Modbus RTU for an external energy management system.
  • amina C is balanced through your CSMS using OCPP smart charging profiles.
  • amina S is balanced by a third-party Zigbee hub such as EVA Smart, Perific, Homey or Home Assistant. There is no charger-to-charger balancing inside amina S itself.
  • amina 1 has no connectivity, so instead a fixed maximum current is set on the dial by your electrician at installation.

amina S is sold in black only.

amina C and amina M are a different matter. The front cover, cable handle, packaging and manuals can all be customised to a partner’s brand, so those are not limited to black. This is a B2B arrangement rather than a per-unit option at the point of purchase. Contact amina to discuss customisation options and order requirements.

amina chargers are built for the European market. They use the Type 2 connector and are designed for European electrical systems and standards.

amina chargers are currently live in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, the Baltic states, Poland, Iceland and Ireland.

Availability and sales routes vary by country. For these markets, or to discuss another market, contact sales through aminacharging.com/contact. Arrangements may be possible outside the countries listed.

Use the contact form at aminacharging.com/contact for product support, technical questions or help with an existing charger. Your enquiry will be sent to the right team.

amina does not publish a general support phone number. Include your charger model, country, installer or dealer, and a short description of the issue so the team can respond efficiently.
