Why uptime matters

Driiv’s leadership knows the challenges of this industry first-hand. Both Managing Director Kristoffer Hurv and Technical Lead Simon Skauge previously worked at EVBox, one of the sector’s biggest names. They have seen how backend failures can leave chargers unusable for days.

“Connectivity is the number one priority,” Hurv says. “Other AC chargers we used had issues with downtime and resets that sometimes took days. That is simply not an option for fleets or taxis.”

For customers who depend on chargers for their daily operations, even a single day of downtime can mean lost revenue, frustrated drivers and damaged trust.

Open, Reliable and Easy to Integrate

amina’s design tackles the downtime problem at its root. With direct OCPP support and no dependency on a proprietary cloud, there is one less part that could prevent customers from charging. “We wanted a solution that would survive for years, regardless of what happens in the cloud,” says Skauge. “amina offered exactly that.”

That reliability extends to integration as well. Driiv runs its charging services through Monta, and adding amina hardware took only seconds. “We just entered the charger’s serial number into the system and it was ready to go,” Skauge recalls. For project managers, that simplicity keeps deployments on schedule, while operators can stay focused on delivering charging services instead of troubleshooting hardware.

Proven Uptime, One Platform

At Hitra Taxi, one of Driiv’s first projects with amina, the most-used chargers have delivered 100 percent charging success. For a taxi depot, that reliability means cars spend more time on the road and less time waiting at the charger. It also builds confidence for the businesses investing in charging infrastructure, knowing that their systems will keep running when they are needed most.

Both AC and DC chargers operate on the same Monta backend, so drivers see all options in one place, making it easier to pick the right charger and check availability in real time. For operators, it streamlines management and reduces complexity on site.

This approach reflects Driiv’s wider philosophy: success comes when every part of the value chain works together. On the DC side they partner with Kempower and Alpitronic, while for AC, they chose amina for the same reason. A shared focus on quality and customer experience. As Skauge puts it: “The ones who will succeed are the ones who deliver quality at every step and put customers at the centre.”

So what’s next?

Heavy-duty charging remains Driiv’s main focus, but AC solutions are increasingly part of their projects. Whether at depots, driving schools or retail sites, the benchmark is now clear: deliver uptime, keep it simple and make it future-proof.

As Hurv puts it: “It is not about being the cheapest. It is about delivering the best long-term solution. That is why we chose amina.”
